Carbide Cutting Inserts Introduction
Carbide Turning Inserts For SS are available with a negative or positive basic shape. Negative inserts have a 0째 clearance angle. They provide good edge strength and are recommended for external turning and heavy cutting applications. Double-sided negative inserts offer twice as many cutting edges as positive inserts, but single-sided negative inserts provide the best stability in heavy roughing applications. Positive inserts have a clearance angle that is greater than 0째 and are a good choice for internal turning applications and external turning applications on slender workpieces. Positive inserts are single sided and produce lower cutting forces than negative inserts.
Carbide Cutting Inserts features
- Solid carbide tools offer long tool life and faster cutting speeds than other substrates, but are more brittle and must be used with rigid toolholding systems
- Multi Layer coating TiC/Al2O3/TiN
- Good toughness, high strength in use and versatility for roughing, medium roughing of steel, alloy steel and cast-iron, especially for high speed and quick cutting
- Use for slotting and slab or straddle milling
Carbide Cutting Inserts Application:
CVD coated grade, which is the combination of hard substrate and coating (medium thick AL2O3+thick TiCN), has good flaking resistance. It is suitable for turning and milling of cast iron at high speed, and light intermittent cutting can be supported even at moderate speed. It is also suitable for milling of cast iron.
The combination for thick coating and substrate with good hardness and impact resistance gives the inserts excellent impact resistance and stability under high temperature, and improves wear resistance of inserts. Inserts also satisfied the requirements of high speed and high feed rate when machining cast iron.
